NATIONAL PARK INFORMATION
This brand-new NPINFO.NET site is launched on the concept that the some 300-plus million annual national park visitors to some 370 park areas plus other related sites could benefit from a directory to help them plan their visits. The parks visited and the services offered at them could benefit from their visitors having better information, too. Implementing the concept is possible at this stage of the internet's evolution because many parks and park-related organizations have web sites, which they maintain on their own, and so can be linked to with an overall national directory. And because many park visitors now have access to the web, the time appears ripe for this new service.
To be effective, however, two important things must first happen:
1) NPINFO.NET must contain useful information for visit planning. We at NPINFO.NET have begun this process; now we give you the opportunity within our format to add your information. The structure of the site, with pages particular to both national scope and local areas, provide opportunities to insert information and/or ads effectively. Explore the site and you will see this. At this time there is no charge to add your information; however, we at NPINFO.NET must remain the ones to determine how much and what is appropriate for inclusion (which will be oriented to park matters). Graphics will become a part of the site in the future, but at first will be limited. In order to provide the service, however, in time there will need to be a way to collect revenue so the staff here can continue to devote their time to NPINFO.NET. We plan first on using the site to sell products of our own and to collect fees for providing links to affiliate services. We may also ask for fees to provide extra space to those wanting more than a directory listing, or for providing "hits" to business-oriented links reached from NPINFO.NET. Any fee schedule must of course be based on the site's effectiveness to a given lister , which brings us to the second point.
2) NPINFO.NET must be known to park-visit planners. The site is now being listed on myriad search engines. Ads are being taken out, such as in National Parks Magazine, to bring attention to the service. In time we would hope to have your support in including the site's address in your public releases, too.
Will your site/service/product be included in this new directory? See others who have been included on the various pages of this site and also on the partial list of sponsors. To be considered for addition, contact sponsors now. Thanks!
